The series will include several 1-2 hour short clinics showcasing different aspects of Aquafitness (such as Water Running, Aqua Fitness, Aqua Personal Training, Aqua Yoga, Aqua Kick Box, Aqua Flow, Healing Waters: Aqua Arthritis....). 


We are particularly interested in instructors with the CALA qualifications in: Aqua Boot Camp, Water Running and Healing Waters.

Lifeguard Instructor
Position Overview:
Lifeguard/Instructors are at the heart of the Mac Island Aquatic Centre. Reporting to the Aquatic Centre Supervisor and under the leadership of an Aquatic Team Lead, you will provide safe, enjoyable aquatic opportunities for the public through the provision of lifeguarding and instructional services. You will instruct swimming lessons, lifeguard leisure, recreational and competitive swimmers, prevent injuries through public education and respond appropriately when injuries and incidents do occur. You will answer public inquiries, test and record water sample results, and clean aquatic and change room areas by providing janitorial services appropriate to your role. You will mentor volunteers and lifeguards- and instructors-in-training and serve as an advocate for children and other vulnerable members of our community.

Responsibilities:
• Performs preventative lifeguarding duties in accordance with national standards and internal policies and procedures.
• Instructs classes according to program standards and internal policies and procedures utilizing continuous evaluation methods and completes associated administrative materials in a timely and professional manner.
• Prevents injuries by providing public education and responds appropriately when first aid treatment and/or emergency response/rescue is required.
• Monitors the general cleanliness and safety of the aquatic centre area including change rooms and immediately rectifies unclean and/or potentially hazardous conditions in a proactive nature, whenever possible.
• Carries out opening and closing procedures appropriately.
• Completely reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Organizes and leads games and activities for members and guests.
• Sets up, takes down and safely stores equipment and bulkheads according to a prearranged schedule and does so in a timely and cooperative manner.
• Provides exceptional service to aquatic centre users.
• Conducts routine safety inspections.
• Coach, mentor and develop lifeguards- and instructors- in training and volunteers.
• Performs wrist band checks.
• Performs other duties associated with the safe and effective operation of the MacDonald Island Aquatic Centre as required by supervisory employees.
• Full-time Lifeguard/Instructors assume responsibility for performing the roles outlined on the Aquatic Team Lead job document during the absence of Aquatic Team Leads

Qualifications Required:

• National Lifeguard Service Award – Pool Option (current within two years)

The Career.

Qualifications:

  • Personal Training Certification, Fitness Instructor Certification and/or Aqua Certification with previous experience in planning and delivering programs, preferably for older adults.

-Keep the deck clear - leave the equipment organized and clear of the deck after each class

-Report unsafe pool and deck conditions
-Must provide own original music (SOCAN followed)
-Must be able to work with participants of varying abilities and ages.

ON Bradford - Aquafit Instructor - Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury’s

Aquafit Instructor
The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury’s new Leisure Centre includes a state of the art aquatics centre with an eight lane competitive/lap pool, leisure pool with aquatic features and a relaxation/therapy pool.  The Department of Leisure Services is looking for energetic, highly motivated and organized individuals to join their team.

Reporting to the Fitness Supervisor, the Aquafit Instructor provides direct leadership to deliver Aquafitness classes and provides a superior experience to our members in program areas.  This role will plan, organize and instruct classes for all ages and abilities while creating and maintaining a safe, clean and comfortable environment for participants. 

Preferred candidates must have significant experience in the delivery of Aquafit classes, understand the principles of water and possess the ability to instruct safe classes for all levels of participants.  Candidates will have an Aquafitness Certification (CALA – Canadian Aqua Fitness Leaders Alliance, WaterArt, YMCA or equivalent) as well as a current First Aid, AED, and CPR level C certification.  The successful candidates will have proven interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, guests, staff and volunteers.  Candidates must be available to work flexible hours including days, evenings and weekends may be required as part of regular schedule or for meetings, and/or special events.  All applicants must be at least 16 years of age to apply and will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening. 

The position offers an hourly wage of $22.00 to $26.50.
