Fitness Centre Coordinator

Our full-time role involves dealing with the public in a busy and varied membership driven Fitness Centre where building and retaining membership is essential for the job.

Qualifications:

• University or College Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology or Equivalent
• Recognized Group Fitness Instructors Certification
• Experienced and Certified in teaching a variety of group fitness classes including aqua, spin, yoga/Pilates required (or willing to certify in the near future)
• Personal Trainers Certification
• Minimum of two years supervisory/work experience within the fitness industry
• One - three years experience instructing a variety of group fitness classes and providing personal training sessions
• Membership sales and service experience would be a definite asset
• Team training for sports experience desired
• Current First Aid and CPR Certification is mandatory
• Basic Police Security Clearance is required

Experience/Skills Required:

• Able to teach a variety of group fitness classes, including Aqua, Spin and Yoga/Pilates
• Experience with the CLASS Computer System an asset
• Marketing knowledge and ability to sell programs and services to members
• Detail oriented, strong administrative and organizational skills a must
• Two years in a supervisory capacity and able to lead a team of workers.
• Intermediate level computer skills with Word and Excel is absolutely necessary
• Customer service and sales experience in a fast paced organization
• Able to handle customer queries and complaints in a professional manner
• Works well under pressure with a can do attitude
• Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
• Ensures policies and required procedures are adhered to
• Exceptional computer skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel)

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Teaches a variety of group fitness classes for members (on average 10 per week)
• Assists in the design and development of monthly member appreciation events
• Oversees fitness centre orientations to ensure that all new members are comfortable in our facility and for member retention
• Develops, implements and delivers on retention strategies for members in conjunction with the Fitness Programs Director and Marketing team
• Oversees and ensures all fitness monitor, team training and personal training employees perform their duties in accordance with customer and organizational expectations
• Works in conjunction with the Fitness Programs Director to develop program standards
• Manages daily, weekly, monthly Fitness Centre cleaning schedules to ensure our facility is always clean and well maintained
• Develops, implements, maintains and evaluates equipment maintenance schedule and costs
• Assists in developing membership driven fitness programs, services and strategies to increase new membership sales
• Supervises all fitness monitors, personal trainers and team trainers including staffing, scheduling, training and ensuring that they provide essential member services within our fitness centre
• Provides input into and manages budget in area of responsibility
• Participates and actively engages in regular supervisory meetings
