Title: Recreation program leader (Aquatic's Program Leader) (NOC: 5254)
Terms of Employment: Seasonal, Full Time, Overtime, Weekend, Evening
Salary: $17.00 Hourly for 40 hours per week
Anticipated Start Date: 2012/04/23
Location: Fairmont, British Columbia (1 vacancy)
Skill Requirements:Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Red Cross Swimming Instructor/Life Saving Certificate, First Aid Certificate, Aqua Fitness Instructor Certificate, Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Lifesaving Bronze Medallion, Lifesaving Bronze Cross, National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certificate
Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Recreational Concentration: Aquatics, Aqua Fitness
Type of Clients: All ages, Families, Children, Adults, Seniors
Work Setting: Ski centre/resort
Activity Focus: Leading/instructing individuals, Leading/instructing groups, Patrolling/supervising activities
Specific Skills: Lead groups and individuals in recreational or leisure programs, Plan and carry out recreational activities, Attend to clients with special needs, Enforce safety rules and regulations
Additional Skills: Provide emergency or first aid assistance, Ensure safety of rescuers and victims at accident scenes, Assist with special events, Prepare reports, Train and supervise staff, Keep logs and maintain records
Security and Safety: Criminal record check
Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver's licence, Own transportation
Work Location Information: Staff accommodation available, Rural community
Ability to Supervise: 5-10 people
Work Site Environment: Outdoors, Wet/damp, In/on water
Essential Skills: Reading text, Document use, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memory, Computer use
Other Information:The APL will be responsible for but not limited to; pre-season and in-service training for certified lifeguards, scheduling, evaluating, and mentors aquatic staff. Ensure the safety of all guest.
