Do you enjoy working in an aquatic environment to save lives and teaching swimming to various age groups? This is aquatic work in lifeguarding and instructing, on an assigned shift, at an indoor and/or outdoor aquatic facility. This role performs a variety of operational, instructional, lifeguarding and maintenance tasks in accordance with established practices and procedures. Other duties include conducting instructional and recreational aquatic programs for all age ranges and for a variety of special community groups including the disabled; administering first aid as required; performing minor scheduled maintenance tasks with respect to pool water, facilities and equipment such as filters, chlorinators and related water treatment equipment; and performing related duties as required. Job Requirements: Qualifications include courses in lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatics instruction and pool operation/maintenance plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The following licences and certifications are required: Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate; Lifesaving Society Instructor Certificate; National Lifeguard Service Award and C.P.R. Certificate – Level C. An Aqua Fitness Certificate, AED Certificate, a valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers License, and a Pool Operator’s Certificate are considered assets.
