This position performs aquatic leadership work in assisting a supervisor in directing the provision of aquatic instructional and recreational programs in a multi-purpose aquatic facility on an assigned shift. The incumbent supervises, checks and participates in the work of a moderate sized group of full time, part time and auxiliary staff engaged in instructional, lifeguarding, maintenance, custodial and clerical/cashiering work. Additional duties include participating in aquatic program development and promotion of the same and conducting orientation and in-service training for staff. The position also maintains effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and performs related work as required.

Qualifications include High School Graduation supplemented by courses in lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatics instruction and pool operation/maintenance. Sound related experience is also needed including supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The following licences and certifications are needed: valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License; Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate; Lifesaving Society Instructor Certificate; National Lifeguard Service Award and C.P.R. Certificate – Level C. Aqua Fitness Certificate and Occupational First Aid Ticket are considered assets.
